PRESS RELEASE

Expert Poses Food Safety Query for CNN YouTube Presidential Debate July 23rd

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (July 17, 2007- Los Angeles, CA.) Since 1996, 90% of
processed foods contain genetically modified organisms. Expert Jeffrey Smith wants Presidential Candidates to present a plan for removing these unsafe and unlabelled genetically modified health-risks from the American Diet during CNN's YouTube debate July 23rd.

Jeffrey Smith, author of the new book, Genetic Roulette: The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods traces the deadly shortcomings of FDA regulatory oversight in meticulous detail; and according to dozens of experts, Genetic Roulette contains enough data and evidence to push through a ban on genetically engineered (GE) food by Congress.

Nearly 65 health-risks from foods Americans eat everyday are presented in the book.

Children are the most at risk from genetic engineering, and support for immediate food safety action has come from all directions, "Unlabeled GMOs in our food works against what I have learned in my 30 years as a family farmer. Agriculture should be sustainable, food should be healthy and safe, and people deserve to know what they're eating." says U.S. Senator Jon Tester. Claire Robinson of GM Watch states, "Smith has to be the best science communicator alive today, and this book stands as the final word on GM health risks. It's the definitive answer to those who don't know, those who don't want to know, and those who know but don't want anyone else to know."

Countries around the world bar U.S. GM grain exports.

Food company CEOs who recognize the serious problem of GMO contamination and GMO health risks have joined forces to help remove any remaining GM ingredients from the natural food industry create a Non-GMO labeling standard through the GMO Project.

Jeffrey Smith is the founder of the Institute for Responsible Technology whose mission is to promote the responsible use of technology and stop GE foods and crops through grassroots and national strategies.
